Beckenhauer Construction is making significant progress on the renovation of St. Joseph Retirement Community, transforming its second and third floors into modern, comfortable living spaces for residents. These two floors, which house resident apartments, also include two nurse stations, three tub rooms, and two laundry rooms—all of which are being completely renovated to enhance functionality and improve the overall living experience for residents and staff alike. With each floor covering approximately 14,500SF, this ambitious project is being completed in carefully planned phases to minimize disruptions for the residents.

The first phase of the renovation began in April of last year, focusing on the North wing of the building. This phase included the renovation of 20 resident rooms and was successfully completed on schedule in December, despite unexpected setbacks with the building’s fire sprinkler system. Following the completion of Phase 1, residents from the West wing were relocated into the newly renovated North wing, allowing work to begin on the second and final phase of the project.

Phase 2 mirrors the first phase, with the majority of the renovation focused on updating resident apartments and common areas. Currently, all framing and rough-in work for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) have been completed on the third floor. On the second floor, framing is about halfway finished, and MEP rough-in is actively underway. In the coming weeks, crews will begin installing drywall on the third floor, marking another major milestone in the project’s progression.

With construction steadily advancing, the team is targeting a late summer to early fall completion date. Once finished, this renovation will provide residents with an updated, modernized living environment designed for comfort, safety, and convenience.
